Snowflakes
|
Hoani Bryson - 23.04.2012
|
I forgot to mention, the snowflakes effect in this website was a modified version of the hard work done by Scott Schiller (schillmania.com) who developed this nice piece of Javascript for free use by anyone who wants the effect on their website.
I should point out that normally the snow will in fact fall, not float up like I have done!
Thanks Scott, if you ever find this I hope you like what I did with your effect!
Cheers,

GIH: Week Three
|
Hoani Bryson - 20.04.2012

Hi,
So I'm now at the end of my third week of Squire Box... I wanted to post earlier but I decided that the website needed a face-lift first. So here it is the new Squire Box website!
Also this is the first time I have actually put something on the projects page, so if you want you could go check that out too!
Next week I'm going to improve my Javascript skills and continue game development on Butterflies. Phew...
See ya,
Hoani

Second day on the job
|
Hoani Bryson - 03.04.2012
|
|
Alright, I am officially developing as Squire Box full-time.
This means I'm going to restructure this website again. I want it simpler this time, with less tabs (so you don't have to strain your eyes), more social networking crap, and nicer imagery.
Also, there is a cool game I'm developing partially to test-run Game Maker HTML5, but also because it's fun. Basically, the premise is collecting petals and making flowers bloom, but more on that soon.
Data structure programming has broken my balls so I'm gonna be designing graphics for the rest of today.
Later,
Hoani

Indie Gamemaker
|
Hoani Bryson - 25.03.2012

I've seen this a lot lately. So much that it doesn't seem original at all. But yes I am doing it too -- Leaving the workforce to become an indie game developer.
I read an article on staying motivated (I was about to fall asleep at work and I was thinking "this is ridiculous"). Aside from the usual stretching, eating well, music and whatever, the article explained that the best way to be motivated at work is to be in a job that you would do for free. So here I am, 'Great Indie Dev Hoanizuka'.
Expect games soon.

2012, and upcoming game
|
Hoani Bryson - 19.02.2012
|

Happy new years!
Over the past month or so I have started developing a new game. I have been updating the website a little too. Any suggestions would be appreciated (hoani.bryson@sbox.co.nz).
This upcoming game will be put in the projects page soon, probably not a demo but just some teaser screens. All comments welcome.
Cheers,
Hoani

SimpliciTI and Comment boxes
|
Hoani Bryson - 17.12.2011

In the hobby section there is now a tutorial for setting up mspgcc uniarch SimpliciTI with a peer-to-peer example. Please check the read me in the zip file for credits.
My other exciting news is that you can now post comments on these tutorials, or my games for that matter. So let me know what you think!
A huge thank you to http://www.htmlcommentbox.com which made all of this possible. What a guy!

More Tutorials
|
Hoani Bryson - 12.12.2011
|
Phew...
A couple more tutorials have been added and the mspgcc uniarch setup has been updated to help people running Ubuntu natty (may work for older versions but I haven't tested it).
I also modified an openchronos programmer so i can program the exp430f5529 board which you can check out here if you find you are in the same situation as me.
Tonight I also got a modified SimpliciTI protocol working with mspgcc uniarch so expect a tutorial on that by the end of the week with the example code! It just needs a little tidying up...
Cheers,
Hoani

Some MSP430 Tutorials
|
Hoani Bryson - 28.11.2011
|
|
Cool, the site is better and finally configured for the sack of useless garbage that is internet explorer (whom take linebraks in code as a space and format your website accordingly <rage/>).
This news post is all about the hobby section of the website... there are now tutorials there for the ez430-2013, the ez430-chronos and msp430-gcc (aka gcc-msp430 or mspgcc). So if you want to get started with some of your msp430 devices watch this space as I intend to add some tutorials from the ez430-rf2500 boards and some more advanced tutorials on the 2013 as well very soon.
Cheers.

New Website
|
Hoani Bryson - 15.11.2011

Sweet! I finally took my website by the nuts and re-built it from scratch. Now maintainability has become much easier. What does this mean for you? Not much really except I will probably add content more frequently.
Cheers,
Hoani

2011 is upon us
|
jackrussel - 10.11.2011

I graduated last year from University.
Now I've been doing a lot of Embedded Software engineering. A sudden spike in my programming abilities has meant two things:
1) I'm keen on finding a new game making environment that uses Emacs
2) My programming has become more embedded focused rather than game making focused...
3) This website could use a few changes.
So here's the plan. I'm going to transform this website, and then make it not just for my games but also a few projects I do at home.
Not that anyone reads these news feeds anyway :P
